  24. If you're a user of the ZPAYII system and upgrading to ZPAY 3 we
  25. strongly advise you to run ZPAY 3's tutorial from the manual using
  26. the sample data files before running a real payroll.  There are
  27. many different commands, and not being familiar, you can ruin your
  28. old data files.

  30. ***Corrections to ZPAY 3 Manual:***

  32. On page 3-3 change last paragraph on page "Refer to Page 3-5" to
  33. "Refer to Page 3-7".

  35. On page 3-4 change first paragraph on page "Refer to Page 3-7" to
  36. "Refer to Page 3-13".

  41. ***Special note for MENU program users:***
  42.  
  43. Some menu programs do not actually "change" directories and drives
  44. when calling programs to be run.  The ZPAY 3 programs require that 
  45. you be "logged" into the directory in which the programs reside. If
  46. you're using a menu or shell type of program to run programs on your
  47. hard drive, you should use a batch file to run the ZPAY 3 programs 
  48. and not a direct call by your menu or shell program to ZPAY3.EXE.
  49.  
  50. A sample batch file will be shown below.  In the sample batch file
  51. the drive that ZPAY 3 is located on is the D: drive and the directory
  52. is \ZPAY3.  The batch file will move to the D: drive from the C: drive
  53. and switch to the ZPAY3 directory.  It will then call ZPAY3.EXE and on
  54. exit return to the root directory of the C: drive.
  55.  
  56. Call the following batch file ZPAY3.BAT and place it in your root
  57. directory of your C: drive.

  65. Now have your menu or shell program call the ZPAY3.BAT file and not
  66. the ZPAY3.EXE program.

  68. ***Original LaserJet Printer Users:***

  70. If you're using the original LaserJet printer you will need a font Cartridge 
  71. that supports both Portrait and Landscape Roman-8 line printer fonts in the
  72. 16.66 size.

  76. You may now export the payroll data into an "ASCII" file or a ".WKS" 
  77. spreadsheet file for importing by other programs.

  79. "ASCII" Bridge File:
  80.  
  81. Many General Ledger programs are capable of importing data from packages
  82. such as ZPAY 3.  You will find a selection called BRIDGE under the 
  83. Miscellaneous reports sub menu in the REPORTS module.  This selection will
  84. create a file and name it BRIDGE.ASC.  The file is a comma delimited file
  85. and contains the following information in the following order:
  86.  
  87. 1. Employee number
  88. 2. Employee name
  89. 3. Employee check number
  90. 4. Date paid
  91. 5. Regular pay for period
  92. 6. Bonus pay for period
  93. 7. Commission pay for period
  94. 8. Vacation pay for period
  95. 9. Reported tips for period
  96. 10. Collected tips for period
  97. 11. Federal tax for period
  98. 12. FICA for period
  99. 13. Medicare for period
  100. 14. State tax for period
  101. 15. Local tax for period
  102. 16. SDI tax for period
  103. 17. Mis. deduction 1 for period
  104. 18. Mis. deduction 2 for period
  105. 19. Mis. deduction 3 for period
  106. 20. Mis. deduction 4 for period
  107. 21. Mis. deduction 5 for period
  108. 22. Mis. deduction 6 for period
  109. 23. Net pay for period

  111. One General Ledger program that supports the BRIDGE file is CheckMate

  120. If you use Quicken and want to convert the BRIDGE data from ZPAY 3 for
  121. use with Quicken, the Public (software) Library has a utility.  They will
  122. sell a copy of the program for $5.00 which will cover the cost of the
  123. disk and postage.  If you want to order on the phone with a MasterCard
  124. or Visa, the charge is $9.00.  Ask for the ZPAY 3 to Quicken conversion 
  125. utility.

  135. If you select the .WKS format for the bridge file, the data may be used
  136. by your spreadsheet programs.  Some of the well known spreadsheet
  137. programs are Lotus 123, SuperCalc and As-Easy-As.  The file conversion
  138. routines were provided to ZPAY by TRIUS, Inc., the makers of As-Easy-As 
  139. which is a great spreadsheet program with a fantastic price.  If you do 
  140. not have a spreadsheet program and are interested you are invited to

  154. You must have the full drive and path name as your work file in order
  155. for the RESTORE function to copy your files into the proper directory.
  156. If you just have your work filename assigned without the full path,
  157. the files will be restored to your root directory.

  159. ***Special Note For Changing Printer Port***
  160.  
  161. You can now change the output port that prints the ZPAY 3 reports. In the
  162. main menu under Utilities is a sub selection Printer Port.  This will 
  163. allow you to select LPT1, LPT2 or LPT3 as your output device.  This 
  164. selection should be made for each "payroll file" that you are using. The
  165. data is held in the printer data file for each company.
